This well presented Dehler 41 Deck Saloon is an ideal cruising yacht. This era of Dehler yachts are known for being well built fast cruising yachts that are easy to sail shorthanded. The raised saloon allows for the best external views to sit and relax in a bright cosy environment.
The 41DS from 1995, was Dehler’s first flirtation with deck-saloon cruising and in many ways she was ahead of her time. Unsurprisingly, given the German yard’s predilection for low, narrow and slippery hulls, she features a sleek, graceful, modern-looking wheelhouse on a Kevlar-reinforced GRP hull with relatively modest beam.Below the boot-top she has fine lines, a balanced water-plane and a cast-iron keel with a large lead foot. Looking aloft, the standard sail plan comprises a small, self-tacking jib and a beefy, fully-battened mainsail set on a tall, 7/8 fractional rig. Using her snuffer and gennaker pole, a gennaker can be set for off-wind sailing. The cockpit and sail handling is designed for effortless short-handed sailing, with two electric winches operated via push-buttons next to the winches and also on the impressive wheel pedestal, with integrated controls and navigation instrumentation. The decks are kept clear of ropes, halyards and sheets which are all led back to the cockpit under the deck.Under way the Dehler 41 DS is surprisingly weatherly and undemanding on long passages. 2016 and have upgraded her significantly including equipping her to MCA Small Vessel (SCV2) standard with the following objectives: As an enjoyable boat to sail / capable of self sufficiency in harbours remote from her base / a comfortable ‘home’ away from base / a venue for a few RYA Radar courses. We have carried out annual, progressive and preventative maintenance, including many improvements. The electronic systems in particular have had a major upgrade, adding an MFD at the helm and renewing the MFDs at the Chart Table. The last formal maintenance was in August 2019 when professionals carried out a service, including the removal of all antifouling and the application of ‘Coppercoat’ long term antifoul. A check was carried out on the rudder bearing, hull polished, anodes renewed and the Max Prop and bow thruster prop serviced. She has been only lightly used since, due to Covid -19 rules. We are ‘hands on’ owners and love the Dehler 41DS but with our increasing age we can no longer enjoy sailing her to the extent that justifies her upkeep. So reluctantly we have put her up for sale, this despite our continued enjoyment in keeping her in good shape and in good working order. Brokers CommentsHaving sold this Dehler 41 DS to the current owners I have known her for a number of years and have watched the, in excess of £20,000, recent improvements to her that reflect the owners attention to detail and sailing experience. As an ex Electronics Systems Engineer and an RYA Radar Instructor, the current owner has offered ‘one on one’ radar courses on board and therefore this Dehler 41 DS has been equipped to MCA SCV 2 Code of Practice standards. The owners have left onboard items subject to periodic servicing. These include the Life Raft, EPIRB, Fire Extinguishers, and Life Jackets. The new owner will become responsible for servicing these items upon purchasing her. She is British Registered and UK VAT paid.
