Maestro 35, custom built classic schooner, first launched in Finland 2012. Used for totally 40 weeks, one owner, engine Volvo Penta 19 HP, 250hrs.
Built in Helsinki, Finland, 2000-2011. The hull is a Maestro 35, built 1982 by the well-known Maestro Boats in Finland and modified to 36 ft and built to become a junk-rigged schooner with 2 wooden masts. Interior with 1st class hand-made irokko wood work, all systems and the hollow wooden masts were custom-built to very high standards by a retired SAS/Finnair airliner-technician with an eye for quality and safety, he also previously had built his own glider airplane. Over 4000hrs work was spent on the boat during 2000-2011. The boat was launched for the 1st time in May 2012, sailed from Finland to Turkey via Kiel, north sea, Biscaya bay and Gibraltar, a journey of 10 weeks. The boat is well equipped. Registered in Stockholm, Sweden. The boat is very steady even in rough seas and ideal for cruising sailors and for long-distance sailing, particularly when sailing short-handed. The junk rig is a low-tech sail system and requires only standard inexpensive components. Like all junk-rigged boats she is very easy to handle: self-tacking and self-jibing and also quick and easy to reef in sections to quickly and easily adjust to stronger wind. There is normally no need to leave the helm. The boat uses the modern adaption of the ancient Chinese Junk-rig, described by the English sailor Herbert “Blondie” Hasler in the book “Practical Junk Rig”.
Now she is looking for her 2nd owner to continue her new adventures
