Cruising Association

Cruising Association

The Cruising Association (CA) is acknowledged as the leading organisation for cruising sailors and motor cruisers with over 6,300 members around the world. Founded in 1908 specifically to meet the needs of cruising sailors, the CA has been a haven for many great names in sailing and is dedicated to those who enjoy cruising on sailing and motorboats.

We provide a range of services, information, help and advice to sailors worldwide using a variety of communication platforms including our inter-active website, CAptain’s Mate App, forums, rallies, seminars and events, London Clubhouse, reciprocal membership, newsletters and our in-house quarterly magazine Cruising.

The Cruising Association has plenty taking place during the show, including:

CAptain’s Mate – throughout the show, we will demo our next generation CAptain’s Mate app. This app is a game changer for cruising yachts and motorboats, covering key data on over 6,400 global locations, with tried and tested information provided by members for members. CAptain’s Mate delivers the critical information that cruisers need, such as port and harbour navigation, mooring, local facilities, topography and satellite views, discounts and more, accompanied by photos and members’ reports.

RATS Q&A – the CA Regulations and Technical Committee (RATS) drop-in sessions from 1300-1630 hours on 11 and 18 September will provide practical advice to your burning questions, whether cruising abroad or within UK waters. Come and get expert knowledge on issues such as VAT, entry and exit formalities, pets abroad, 90/180 stays, red diesel or any other topic, and pick up a free VAT information pack.

Get Social – as always, members and non-members are invited to our on-stand meet-up from 1600 hours on Thursday 16 September for free drinks, nibbles and cruising chat.

Join the CA – join during the show and receive a 10% discount on your first year’s membership when paying by Direct Debit.

CA Almanac – respected as the go-to and definitive on board reference for cruising yacht and motor boats, the Cruising Almanac features the Shetlands in the north around the coasts and islands of Great Britain and Ireland, and spans the continent from Bergen into the approaches to the Baltic and down to Gibraltar.

Well-known names associated with the CA include HRH The Princess Royal and the CA’s Patron, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. Supporters also include Keith Musto, Tom Cunliffe, Jeanne Socrates and Don Street, amongst others.
